UK's first Eco-friendly pressure washer gets backing from Calor
BOASTING substantial benefits for housing developers across the UK and helping the global environment at the same time, masonry cleaning specialists at New Brick Clean Limited have today launched the UK’s first environmentally friendly LPG pressure washer, which will be powered by CALOR, the UK’s leading supplier of LPG.
The LPG fuelled unit, which was designed by New Brick Clean - in conjunction with the Environmental Technology Centre at the University of Nottingham and Trevor Nicholson at Pressure Washer Developments - is a highly efficient and cost effective alternative to the industry standard petrol or diesel driven washers used on most building sites across the country.
Simon Woolf, Director of New Brick Clean explains: “During the handover phase of a new build project, the site manager will assign a couple of his workers or employ a power washing company to wash down the new brickwork to remove the dust, excess mortar and other typical site soiling.
“They’ll fire-up a noisy and ineffective power washer, often combined with a hydrochloric based cleaner. This solution can stain the mortar, metal and uPVC features, damage the shrubs and trees and can even contaminate the ground water. It is also harmful when in contact with the skin.
“We knew that there had to be a better and safer way to accomplish this task.”
New Brick Clean’s new pressure washer was designed with an environmentally friendly aspect in mind. The company, which is currently working towards ISO14001 accreditation, is now the emerging leader in this technology.
Barry Ohrman, Calor’s Sales Development Manager, said: “We were greatly impressed by the pressure washer and even more so by New Brick Clean’s commitment to protecting the environment.
“We believe that there is a strong synergy between Calor and New Brick Clean, which will lead to a long satisfying working relationship.”
The pressure washer is just one part of the equation, which will provide new build sites with a complete environmental cleaning solution.
Following a recent agreement with Tensid uk, leading supplier of building cleaning solutions in the UK, New Brick Clean is now the approved contractor of ‘Safety Klean’, a new environmentally responsible detergent, which is made of natural organic salts that are biodegradable.
“We were intent on ensuring that each part of the washing process provide both an effective and efficient result for the user,” said Woolf.
“We are also able to add an element of worker safety into our plans as well. Apart from the harmless solution, which is safe on skin, we have designed and built an extending lance, meaning that we can clean three storeys from the ground level, eliminating the chance of accidents with ladders.
New Brick Clean is committed to delivering quality new brick cleaning service at cost effective prices. The company is a champion of the environmental cause in the construction and house building industry and is currently working towards ISO14001, ISO9001 and IIP – Investors In People accreditations.
